We were getting ready to go to our long awaited Manaiakalani Film Festival at Sylvia Park. When we got there we went into a cinema and got in our seats. I was a presenter for our movie. We watched movies from Panmure Bridge School, Tamaki College and Point England. Our movie was about how to make a jam sandwich. We watched 23 movies and then came back to school. It was a good day.

A visit from Nicky at ASB

Today we got a visit from Nicky from the ASB. She told us how to save money for the future. My dream for the future to be a rugby player but I will need money for this. I have to buy boots, mouth guard and a car to get to training. She said that if we start planning now when we are young we will get ahead in life.
I stood up in front of the class and I was student 1 and Nino was student 2 and Sililo was student 3. We had to save money and I put my money in the bank and I got interest on my saved money. Nino put his money in a piggy bank but he didn't get any interest. Sililo put his money under his bed but he didn't get any interest.
In the end I could buy a car for a lot more than the other two because I had more money saved.
I learned a lot today from Nicky.

Making Tukutuku Mats

Kia Ora this is my Tukutuku mat that I have made.
First of all we had a white loom, black paper strips and red paper stripes. I had a plain white paper with 10  thin cuts though the paper, I used 1 black paper strip and weaved it under over under until I got a neat pattern, I repeated it swapping each strip between the two colors red and black The End.
Did you like my Tukutuku pattern.

Show Smart Relationship

During cybersmart Mrs Collins talked to us about showing smart relationship qualities and wrote some down on the board. Then Mrs Collins said "please get yourself into groups of twos and threes." My partners were Sione and Jacob.
Then Mrs Collins told us to pick one word for our group and we said 'trust.' We chose it because when someone is constructing it we have to trust them. Me and Sione started building it but Jacob was out of class, so he didn't do anything. My and Sione finished it and when Jacob just got back Mrs Collins went around doing 1 tick tock 2 tick tock, 3 tick tock and guess what???  We won because our tower was 36 centermetres high. Mrs Collins gave our group chocolate and we celebrated.

It was really interesting to make our presentation.

My Digital Footprint

This is my Digital Footprint. Mrs Collins marked my Digital Footprint and gave me 70% and that means its good and mine was the 2nd best in the class. The first one was Leonie with 76%. As you can see the things that are red are not that good for children minds like World War II and Black Ops 3. I will try to improve my digital footprint by always being aware of what I am doing on the internet.

Tika,Pono,Aroha

We have been learning about how Jesus respected the tapu (sacredness) of people.

Jesus proclaimed the kingdom of God to the Samaritan woman at the well when he asked for some water but the woman said we are not allowed to talk to each other. He was a Jew and she was a Samaritan and they were enemies in those days. But Jesus did. He shows us aroha (love and compassion) and pono (being true to what you believe in) and tika (doing the right thing). He wasn't afraid and showed us an example of what we can do and how we can treat people.

I show Aroha when I help mum with anything.
I show Pono when I make good choices.
I show Tika when I do something is right.

Kindness is a renewable resource

Yesterday in Cybersmart Mrs Collins helped everyone make their own slide about kindness.
We watched Oat the goat and learnt that you should never join the people who are laughing and stand up for the person who is getting teased.

St Patrick's Day - by Sonasi

On Monday the 18th of March it was St Patrick's day and our special day to remember an important man. It is a day to be kind to others and help someone if they feel down and our day to celebrate with our parish and school.
After morning tea we were put into groups to do sports. When we were finished, we had ice blocks and they were very good because it had been a hot day. It was a great way to celebrate St Patrick's Feast day.
